12/02/2010Graduate Marketing Master Class

members only. This Master Class will be held at etc. Venues, The Hatton, 51-53 Hatton Gardens, London, EC1N 8HN from 09:00 - 12:30

Come and hear RBS, Centrica, Ben Nunn from ThirtyThree and AGR’s very own placement student Charlie Derricourt talk about graduate marketing...

The rapidly changing economy has led to vastly increased application levels over the last 18 months. For many schemes the focus is shifting from quantity to quality and return on investment is crucial in light of reduced budgets. On the other hand, new technology presents an ever increasing number of channels to market, so how do you know what really works?

As ever, promoting a strong brand remains important. Graduates viewing your advert today may well be your customers tomorrow, even if they don’t join your scheme. For recruiters as well as for students, first impressions count.

We all have a view on this topic, so why not come and share yours while listening to others at AGR’s next master class?

Guest speakers include

Karen Martin and Melanie Loveday, who will be talking about RBS's approach to graduate marketing. They will explore the changes that were made to the successful 2008/09 Collections campaign (which won the Best Employer Brand award at the AGR summer conference) in light of the current economic climate and the challenges that they face.

Karen and Mel will look at how they made use of research, and show how RBS's willingness to change its approach has led to a positive reception on campus this year, perhaps against some peoples' expectations. Finally, they will discuss the balance that they have struck between a campaign that is vibrant and eye catching but also "fit for purpose", and how this campaign is generating a strong candidate pipeline.

The team from Centrica will talk about how they are using social media as part of their graduate recruitment marketing activities, and how this fits into their group-level social media strategy. They will talk about the channels that they use to engage with and manage their candidate populations in both graduate and experienced hire. They will also look at how they are planning to link up the various tools that they use to help them manage their campus teams, engage with new candidates, and keep their future joiners engaged between the offer and the join date.

The morning will finish with a panel led discussion which will present different perspectives on the many different approaches available. As an employer, what are the different options and how might you use them? As a student, how do you feel when faced with numerous marketing messages, and which ones really strike a chord? In short: what is really working, and what is just smoke and mirrors....

As always the event will provide ample opportunity for you to question the speakers, network with other professionals in the sector, and contribute your point of view to the discussions. It is open to all AGR members whether or not they are participating in the AGR Standard. We hope to see you there.
