AGR Graduate Development Awards 2010
The awards have been designed to recognise and showcase the achievements of graduate developers in AGR member companies.
The following information will tell you all you need to know about the awards from entry through to the judging process.
The award categories are -
- Strategic Alignment
- Career Management
- Supplier Contribution to the Business
- Graduate Development Preparation in Higher Education
- Graduate Induction
Judging Process
All categories will be judged by a panel of professionals.
The winners will be announced in the final session of the AGR Graduate Development Conference on Monday 29 March, London and will be followed by a celebratory drinks’ reception.
There will also be an overall winner who will be announced at the AGR Conference on 4-6 July at Celtic Manor Resort, Newport, South Wales. An awards supplement will be available in the June/July 2010 issue of Graduate Recruiter.
The competition is open to AGR members only.
The deadline for entry for all awards is Monday, 8th March 2010.

Strategic Alignment Award
This award recognises excellence in engagement with all stakeholders of the graduate development programme. It is given for demonstrating commitment to and understanding of your internal stakeholders. Examples of good practice are likely to show effective two-way liaison with stakeholders, which is reviewed and monitored on a regular basis. This may include line manager briefing sessions, graduate newsletters, focus groups, feedback forms etc.

Career Management Award
This award recognises excellence in succession planning beyond your two or three year graduate programme. Examples of good practice may include transition workshops at the end of the graduate programme, career development planning initiatives, leadership development programmes, training and development frameworks as well high potential assessment centres.

Supplier Contribution to the Business Award
This award recognises your ability to assist the employer to develop, engaging solutions which aid in the development of graduates within business. These solutions should have clear line of sight to business priorities, and should show evidence of how you have worked with the employer on the design, delivery and evaluation phase of the solution.

Graduate Development Preparation in Higher Education Award
This award recognises the contribution of university careers services in the development of students in their preparation for the world of work. It is given for demonstrating outstanding commitment and innovation on the part of careers services in this area and is open to all careers service members of AGR. Examples of innovative good practice could include achievement awards, embedded curricular activities and imaginative use of industry contacts and alumni.

Graduate Induction Award
This award recognises excellence in the induction of graduates into organisations; it will also demonstrate effective mentoring or coaching initiatives that ensure that the induction of graduates is beyond any initial induction programmes. It is given for demonstrating good practice and imagination in the design and delivery of the induction programme and is open to all members of AGR. Examples of innovative good practice could include residential programmes, engagement with senior management, collective group activities and use of IT and web based communication. Examples and graduates testimonials should be used to re-enforce your application, and should include evidence of the criteria found on the application forn.
