21/12/2011Understanding and Engaging with Higher Education - Two Day Expertise Workshop- City University
Are you happy with the relationships you have with universities?
Do you understand what drives them — is your relationship mutually beneficial?
How might recent government policy impact the way you work together?
This two day expertise session looks at the ways that you can work most effectively with universities and educational establishments to get access to the best talent for your organisation. Delivered by an expert tutor with additional input from guest speakers from universities and industry, you will focus on the tools, techniques and strategies that you need in order to build highly effective and mutually beneficial relationships with careers advisory services, academics, universities and educational establishments.
At the end of the two days you will know how to:
• Understand the higher education system in the UK and the impact of government policy on trends and developments
• Gain an insight into the make-up of the UK student body
• Work in partnership with a variety of higher educational establishments to develop mutually beneficial relationships
• Get up to date information about the current services, processes and statistics that relate to higher education in the UK
• Identify which UK universities will help you to deliver graduate recruitment targets
• Develop a strategic plan for working with universities and careers services to attract and recruit the right candidates for your organisation
• Identify and evaluate a range of careers services publications and services for both marketing and recruitment and select those that are most aligned to your organisations objectives
• Use careers services as a key tool in the marketing of your organisation to students
• Identify 'other' ways of targeting students at university, e.g. working with student societies, offering internships and work experience placements etc.
