Launched in 2014, Police Now trains graduates with leadership potential to be inspirational police leaders and outstanding crime fighters. In 2014 we published the Police Now: Case for Change which set out the need for this programme and the challenges that it will help to address. Police Now’s development has been closely informed by the Case for Change and has been loosely modelled on other similar programmes such as Teach First. Police Now is funded by the Home Office and police forces. We have grown from one police force in 2014 to 19 police forces in 2017. This year, Police Now will be the face of neighbourhood policing for 7 million people, with over 360 officers spread nationally throughout 19 forces in England. Police Now is a start-up, and as such we are looking for individuals to join the team who have an entrepreneurial, flexible style and will contribute effectively to the creation and leadership of this new organisation.

Job Purpose

As Recruitment Operations Manager, you will be responsible to ensuring that Police Now has a slick, efficient robust process for pipeline management of talented and diverse individuals committed to our mission of community transformation.

Reporting into the Graduate Recruitment Director, this role will lead the recruitment team in the delivery of recruitment, including the allocation of work, innovation through enhancements to ways of working, as well as coaching members of the team. The role will cover the recruitment process from application through the entire recruitment process including medical, fitness, vetting and reference checks. You will drive to hit ambitious targets and to ensure Police Now delivers about 350 quality hires in a number of regions across England.

The role will require all elements of recruitment process from pipeline management, to fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders. The main focus of this role will be to oversee candidate pipeline management within the team and ensure optimal service delivery for all Pre-offer activity including candidate screening, candidate processing, video interview scheduling to planning and delivering training for Assessors and running wash up’s at Assessment centres and seamless transition of the candidate journey to the next stage in the recruitment process.

We are looking for an individual who as well as being a strong recruiter must have a successful track record in high volume student recruitment. You will need to have a results-driven attitude and a drive to exceed ambitious targets. We want charismatic candidates with exceptional relationship-building skills, excellent persuasive communication, and compelling and confident presentation skills. You must possess the ability to plan and deliver events, manage a varied workload and have an unwavering sense of possibility.

What you’ll do

  • Responsible for overseeing Assessment Centres
  • Coach team members to improve performance, specifically to improve their pipeline management and escalation aspects within their role
  • Support the Graduate Recruitment Director and Recruitment Officers in introducing new ways of working and monitor the implementation of changes
  • Work closely with  the Head of Recruitment Marketing on attraction for hard to fill regions and team resource requirements for recruitment marketing activities
  • Support the team with any operational queries.
  • Act as subject matter expert for the practices and processes in Graduate Recruitment Services Support the team to take an individual candidate approach so that candidates feel supported through the recruitment process
  • Undertake student hire coordination and administration duties when resource requires this. This involves pre-selection, selection and on-boarding activities
  • Deputise for Graduate Recruitment Director at Assessment centres and cover AC Managers when required
  • Report and monitor time to offer for candidates, devise recommendations on how to reduce this and manage team work allocation effectively to meet SLA's Report on weekly screening and interview scheduling activities to identify if enough candidates are progressing and what amendments could be made to the process to progress candidates more effectively
  • Meet with Force Account manager weekly to provide a review of pipeline, suggested changes to process and variations on ways of working to achieve pipeline completion
  • Early identification of any challenges which may impact achieving graduate targets and support in providing resolutions
  • Commit to own personal development and ensure capability and skills are always up to date

Typical Activities

  • Meet weekly with the team for pipeline reviews, management and escalations
  • Meet weekly with the team to allocate and manage weekly targets and SLA’s
  • Meet weekly with Student Recruitment for pipeline review and escalation (following the escalation process by engaging individual coordinators/officers)
  • Meet weekly with external provider(s) to manage their service delivery
  • Understanding of ATS reporting and how to run them

What we need from you

  • Strong volume recruitment knowledge, specifically including managing candidates within a pipeline and ideally within, but not limited to Student Recruitment.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience.
  • Working to KPIs and within SLAs
  • Good ATS knowledge and experience
  • Strong administration capability, able to work with intricate processes such as pipeline instructions and the ability to act as a role model in organisational skills
  • Working with data and producing management information
  • Outstanding stakeholder engagement capability and a service oriented mind-set
  • Working with and relationship management of external providers
  • Strong people management skills, with an interest in developing people
  • Able to demonstrate successful track record of process improvements and best use of technology
  • Degree level, or equivalent, qualification level.
