Why I’m a Member of AGR
Enterprise Rent-A-Car has been a member of the AGR for two years and has found its training courses and conferences invaluable. The membership fee is definitely worth every penny and the affiliation with companies and career centres that we have met through the association has been really beneficial. We especially love taking part in the best practice seminars with some of the UK's top graduate recruiters. It's enlightening to see how other companies are coping with the issues that we face in the UK today.
Donna Miller, Director International Human Resources, Enterprise Rent-A-Car
Graduate recruitment has changed dramatically over the last 5 years, and the collective voice of graduate recruiters has never been more important. Membership of the AGR has allowed Wates to benchmark our graduate programmes and recruitment strategies with other organisations – many in the same sector as ourselves. Information provided by AGR such as salary reports, and trend analysis has proved invaluable when reviewing recruitment strategy.
Overall, the AGR provides a network forum that allows like-minded organisations to share best practice and learn from each other’s mistakes and success.
Anthony Surley, Group Graduate Training Manager, Wates Construction
AGR provides an invaluable source of information and contacts in this field. From salary comparisons to advice on diversity issues to recruiting in unfamiliar countries, there is always somebody on hand to point you in the right direction. As somebody who has been involved in the IT Focus Group in a previous life, I was delighted to get involved with the recently formed EEI focus Group and already have made a number of excellent contacts from it.
AGR organise a number of well-attended events throughout the year and this is testimony to the fact that there is no doubt the AGR provides an excellent service to Graduate specialists. These events culminate in the annual AGR Conference which is a must attend event for anybody with an interest in recruiting from University.
Anthony Ball, Graduate Scheme Manager, The BOC Group
Microsoft has been a member of the AGR for a number of years and has always found the membership a great benefit. It ensures we are amongst the first to hear about the latest research and new initiatives, as well as enabling us to network at AGR events.
More recently we have become a member of the IT Focus Group, which the AGR facilitates. Members of the group are graduate recruiters from across the IT industry. As many of us within IT face similar issues when it comes to graduate recruitment, we have been able to share our experiences and knowledge, as well as look at ways in which we can work together to strengthen the positioning of the IT industry within the Graduate marketplace.
Nikki Wakefield, Graduate Recruitment Manager, Microsoft Ltd
AGR provides an invaluable network of professionals working within the graduate arena. The briefing papers and research are used extensively to shape our strategy and inform our practice - they are an excellent resource for anyone involved in graduate recruitment.
