ASSOCIATION OF GRADUATE RECRUITERS LAUNCHES NEW EMPLOYER GUIDES
Cutting-edge research and advice on:
* WORK EXPERIENCE
* THE FUTURE OF HIGHER EDUCATION
* RECRUITING EUROPEAN GRADUATE TALENT
The Association of Graduate Recruiters has today (Thursday 2 October) launched a new set of ‘how to’ guides and research papers on some of the hottest topics of the moment in the graduate recruitment sector. The guides, which are available free of charge to AGR members, offer help to employers on getting the best out of work placements and recruiting European graduates as well as providing the latest information on higher education.
Carl Gilleard, Chief Executive of the AGR, comments: “The aim of these publications is to keep our members up to date with the latest thinking on recruitment issues and to help them to stay ahead of the game in an extremely competitive business.”
The first of the papers, Demand for Higher Education to 2020 and Beyond, offers employers an insight into the future of the Higher Education sector. It contains a detailed demographic study of those currently in Higher Education, with additional information on mature and European students, vocational qualifications and the impact an increase in student fees might have in the future.
The second paper, Work Experience – An Employers Guide, highlights the benefits of offering work experience placements to undergraduates and outlines how to structure the placement so both the employer and intern can make the most of the experience. Work placements for university students are currently high on the Government’s agenda as they offer students an important insight into the world of work. This paper contains advice on everything from setting up an internal framework and budget to publicising the scheme to potential applicants, as well as ways of supporting the line managers running the placements and the students themselves.
The guide explains how offering work placements can raise the profile and reputation of an organisation with universities and also includes generic student review forms to make evaluation of students easier for the employer.
Targeting Students in Europe: a ‘how to’ guide with useful links is the final briefing paper, and demonstrates how employers can get the skills they need by stepping outside the domestic graduate recruitment market and looking further afield for graduate talent in Europe. The paper also includes a list of useful organisations in European countries.
Briefing papers are just one advantage of joining the AGR, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this autumn. They are free to members but can still be purchased by non-members. Work Experience – an Employers Guide is available for £20, Targeting Students in Europe: A ‘how to’ guide with useful links costs £10 and Demand for Higher Education to 2020 and Beyond is free of charge.
